Scope

During this internship the assignment was to investigate the domain structure of SR proteins, to identify members of this group by using available genetic information, to compare the members of the group and to search for organisms which posses SR proteins. The results should be assembled to create a frequency analysis for each domain of the proteins.

The reason for doing this is the question whether SR protein domains are prominent in all metazoans and to which extent. The results may pose another view on the evolution of SR proteins in cells, especially in the background that some eukaryotes do not posses SR proteins, but still may have domains of SR proteins which are combined as SR proteins in their biological successors.
